Shapel Lacey is a Los Angeles based comedian born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. A diehard punk rocker and former award-winning competitive cheerleader, Shapel found ways to express himself and own his individuality at an early age. BELOW SURFACE
Below Surface follows longboard surfer Lucy Small as she grasps the baton from the renegades who fought for equal opportunity in the world of surfing decades before her.
After winning a surf competition in Sydney’s Northern Beaches in 2021, and receiving a prize of less than half the male division’s award, Lucy courageously called out the event organisers on stage for their blatant misogyny. The incident went viral and catapulted Lucy into a world of accidental fame.
As she found her feet amidst this media maelstrom of newfound attention, Lucy came to a crucial realisation - if she’s taking the podium, she better have something worthwhile to say.
But can she say it loud enough in order to make a difference?
Director: Chloe Keeley

ALL IN
A short documentary about women's experiences in the snow sports industry. This film is a starting point. It's where we begin the conversation. It's not all that needs to be done so we'll keep asking questions, learning, and making change. We're committed to equitable gender representation in all our marketing media, and we're starting with our women. Take a watch and let us know what you think! We're All In, are you?

Director: Jen Randall

MARDI & THE WHITES
Mardi has a rich relationship with nature that has evolved and deepened throughout her life. In the last 20 years she’s dedicated much of her time to exploring the landscape in the White Mountains (unfortunately coined “The Whites” by New Englanders) on Abenaki land. In that time Mardi summited all forty-eight 4,000 footers multiple times, often as the only Black person on the mountain. She has experienced great joy from communing with this landscape, but the overwhelmingly white hiking community that is so seeped in white supremacy and colonialism complicates her experiences. Recently, she has focused on creating more opportunities for Black folks to join her in appreciating this magnificent wilderness. Enjoying this land with her community has been a liberating balm that has strengthened her sense of identity as an outdoorswoman.
“Mardi & the whites” is a peek into Mardi’s relationship with the White Mountains, the great outdoors, and the community that surrounds them; Above all, it’s a celebration of Black liberation in the wild.
Director: Paula Champagne

RACING ARIZONA
Liz Sampey is an international biking phenom, having made it into the record books as the fastest woman to ever complete the Arizona Trail Race. At 750 miles, Liz rode from Arizona to Utah in just over 9 days and 11 hours.
This short film features a retrospective of rider Liz Sampey’s AZT750 record-breaking journey. Liz pulls back the curtain and reflects on the race, what got her there and where she is now. For Liz, the outdoors are her solace, a place to find balance in life, to push and rejuvenate herself. Liz uses her firsthand experience to help others as a physical therapist and endurance coach.
Director: James Q Martin

SHERI
Sheri Tingey’s 60 year career as a woman who has defined the odds by starting a company at age 50 that has revolutionized the outdoor industry. The film is a story about the hurdles she overcame to launch the company, about the ways she hid from view so that people would judge the boats, not her role in creating them. It’s the story of her son, Thor Tingey, who has built the company alongside his mother, but has only recently begun to fully grasp what she has created not just for him, but for adventurers who’ve used the boats to access remote and wild rivers around the world.
The story of Sheri Tingey is also an evergreen and widely universal story about missed opportunities—not by Sheri, or other women—but by outdoor adventurists and the industry as a whole - when we only listen to ideas, celebrate advances, and invite innovations from a select few. At this watershed moment of reckoning around equity and inclusion for the industry, for the lifestyle, Sheri’s life story will both warm audiences, and ask them to grapple with important questions about who belongs.
Director: James Q Martin

Found Footage Festival Vol. 10
Joe Pickett (The Onion) and Nick Prueher (Late Show) serve up their latest and greatest VHS finds in this all-new show for 2023.
The Found Footage Festival is a one-of-a-kind event that showcases footage from videos that were found at garage sales and thrift stores and in warehouses and dumpsters across the country.
Curators Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher take audiences on a guided tour of their latest and greatest VHS finds, providing live commentary on the people in these videotaped obscurities. From the curiously-produced industrial training video to the forsaken home movie donated to Goodwill, the Found Footage Festival resurrects these forgotten treasures and serves them up in a lively celebration of all things found.
The Found Footage Festival was founded in New York in 2004 and has gone on to sell out hundreds of shows across the U.S. and Canada, including the HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas and the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. The festival has been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, National Public Radio and has been named a critic’s pick in dozens of publications, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and The Chicago Tribune. The FFF can also be seen twice a week in a popular web series on The Onion’s A.V. Club, in the hit documentary “Winnebago Man,” and in their book, “VHS: Absurd, Odd and Ridiculous Relics from the Videotape Era.”
Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher began collecting found videotapes in 1991 after stumbling across a training video entitled, “Inside and Outside Custodial Duties,” at a McDonald’s in their home state of Wisconsin. Since then, they have compiled an impressive collection of strange, outrageous and profoundly stupid videos. Pickett, a writer/director, and Prueher, a former researcher at the Late Show with David Letterman, have written for The Onion and Entertainment Weekly and directed the award-winning documentary, “Dirty Country.”. With college friend Mark Proksch, they pulled off the Kenny “K-Strass” Strasser yo-yo pranks that hit local morning TV news shows across the Midwest and have since racked up millions of hits on YouTube.
So sit back, adjust the tracking on your VCR, and enjoy the show.
