Zach Galligan, born in New York City, began his career as an actor in an ABC Afterschool Special, A Very Delicate Matter. Galligan's most notable role was as Billy Peltzer in the Steven Spielberg-produced 1984 film Gremlins. Before the first Gremlins film, Galligan appeared in Nothing Lasts Forever.


In 1988, he starred as Mark Loftmore in the horror comedy Waxwork. He reprised his role as Billy Peltzer in the 1990 sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch along with Phoebe Cates. The following year he appeared in the the film Zandalee with Nicolas Cage. In 1992, he joined the cast of Waxwork II: Lost in Time with Bruce Campbell. Since then, he starred in the films Raw Nerve, Hatchet 3 and Madness In the Method, along with many others. In 2016, UK progressive rock band Gandalf's Fist announced that Galligan had voiced a character on their album The Clockwork Fable.

Galligan, who graduated from Columbia Universuity in 1996, has acted in 74 films and television series. His latest film is Bad Candy, opposite Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor.
